Individual Row-Shut Off Proves Its Accuracy

On 5th September 2025, the Amazone Ltd team set out to drill the AMAZONE logo into a field near to Amazone’s Orchard Farm facility in Doncaster.

Typically, with ‘Field Art’ it’s a simple task of using a precision seeder, such as the Amazone Precea, to drill maize. This was the case earlier in the year when Amazone teamed up with JCB to drill “80” into a field near Uttoxeter to celebrate 80 years of JCB.

But, this time round, Amazone went one step further by drilling a field at 10kg/ha with mustard through a standard Cirrus 9004-2C Grand pneumatic cultivator drill. The Cirrus Grand comes equipped with the MultiSwitch individual row-shut off distribution head as standard and so, by using a simple Section Control map and the MultiSwitch head, drilling the field was straightforward.

The Cirrus Grand uses a cleverly designed instant seed delivery system. A small quantity of seed is kept recirculating in the head ready to go as soon as any of the flaps open. The software also compensates for the length of each individual pipe, which makes for a straight line shut off every time taking headland precision to the next level.

This system is, of course, designed for more than just marketing stunts. The centimetre precision shut-off means that any overlapping is reduced from the usual 5% achieved with half-side shut-off to below 1% – an immediate saving on seed costs.

Additionally with the Award-winning EasyTram system, the MultiSwitch head can not only put in tramlines at any tramline width with any width drill and any tractor wheel width but can also drill tramlines at an angle up to 20 degrees.

Irrespective of the shape and size of the field, EasyTram generates completely pre-planned tramlines, minimising short work and sprayer folding around trees and poles as well as, perhaps more importantly, reducing erosion on hillsides by tramlining at an angle to the crop.

EasyTram is also compatible with the Amazone Precea precision seeders, for tramlining at any angle, even 90 degrees.

The MultiSwitch individual row shut-off control is available on the Cirrus 04 series, the new Condor 02 direct tine seeders and the new Primera DMC 6002-2C large area drill.
