Biopesticides Webinar to discuss current challenges and future opportunities

    • This webinar on 29 March 2023 10-11.30am will discuss ‘where we are now’ and ‘where we want to be’ including the latest thinking and adoption rates for these technologies from industry experts
    • The event will give you insight into the latest in biopesticide policy, manufacturer and grower adoption, and give you an opportunity to interact through Q&A sessions with the panel

Biopesticides have huge potential. These naturally occurring substances and micro-organisms offer a wide range of safe and sustainable tools to help rebalance pests or disease populations in food production.

In October 2022, the European Commission arrived at the ‘requirements mechanism’ and adopted new rules designed to approve new biopesticide agents and authorise new biopesticide products more effectively and efficiently. The new rules came into effect in November 2022. Even though the UK has left the EU, there are clear indications that this remains a domestic objective.

The event will run for 90 minutes with the following line up:

Industry survey results – Biopesticide use and outlook

Aoife Dillon, Principal Scientist – Crop Protection, Fera Science Limited

    The policy perspective

Amanda Porter, Pesticides policy scientific advisor, Defra

    Product development outlook

Ian Baxter, Senior Technical Expert Toxicology, Syngenta

    Grower needs and uptake

Ali Capper, Apple and hop grower, NFU Horticulture Board
