Nutrient planning platform reaches 10% of England’s farmland

Next generation farming software continues rapid growth with RB209-based nutrient planning tool.

Digital farm planning platform Soil Benchmark has launched its latest product, Nutrient Navigator, as new figures show the cloud-based system is now managing over 910,000 hectares — around 10% of England’s total farmland — less than 18 months after launching.

The new digital tool, launched at Cereals 2025, helps agronomists and farm advisors plan nutrient applications more efficiently across both arable and grassland systems, bringing together crop requirements, soil analysis, and manure inputs in one streamlined interface.

Tom Scrope, co-founder of Soil Benchmark, said: “We’ve heard again and again how time-consuming and fragmented nutrient planning can be. Nutrient Navigator brings everything into one place — so you can go from soil sample to nutrient strategy in minutes, not hours.”

Since launching in November 2023, Soil Benchmark has grown quickly, offering tools that allow users to complete key compliance documents — such as SFI soil management plans and NVZ spreading maps — faster and more accurately. The system pre-loads data such as soil type, field boundaries, and rainfall, generates risk maps, and produces reports that meet Red Tractor and SFI requirements.

The company believes the rapid uptake of cloud-based systems reflects changing expectations among farmers and advisors — especially as new environmental schemes increase the paperwork burden on farm businesses.
