Cereals saw the UK launch of the first self-operating robotic weeder from French manufacturer Carre.

Called the Anatis is has been developed with the University of Nante and can help farmers by hoeing weeds in row crops.

Driven by electrics the model has an inter-row hoe or comb harrow and gathers information on weed populations, crop and soil health.

It has a rear three-point linkage and side-shift facility and uses RTK to keep the wheels in line.

The data gathered can be downloaded via a smart phone or tablet. As well as hoeing it produces a crop report to help with decision-making.

The first unit has already been sold in France and another four are planned. It retails at around 80 to 90,000 Euros.
