    • Shared innovation meets smarter iron with an autonomous tractor and grain cart application
    • Driverless tractor operation from the combine cab

Case IH Magnum™ tractor with Raven Autonomy™, the next major autonomous advancement in agriculture, has been presented at SIMA 2022 in Paris. This milestone in harvest solution, featuring an autonomous tractor and grain trailer, provides farmers new levels of productivity.

By integrating Raven Autonomy technology, it allows the farmer to monitor, synchronise and command a driverless tractor from a tablet in the combine cab. Along with labour savings, in-field testing shows reduced grain spillage and fewer errors.

“Integrating Raven’s industry-leading driverless agriculture technology with the power of the Magnum has provided a tremendously beneficial solution to harvest applications, particularly in today’s labour-constrained market,” said Chris Dempsey, Case IH Global Director of Precision Technology. “This achievement is another strong result for Case IH as we continue the path to autonomy. With driver-assisted and driverless solutions allowing farmers to focus on higher-order tasks, autonomous equipment and technology are rapidly advancing the way they manage their operations.”

The Case IH Magnum tractor with Raven Autonomy allows the combine operator to completely control the vehicle speed, combine-tractor synchronisation and the unloading of the crop into the grain trailer. To get started, the combine operator must set field boundaries and staging locations. When commanded, the tractor uses GPS and a perception system to automatically manoeuvre around obstacles, such as fences and unharvested crops. The tractor will return to a predetermined unloading area when the desired task is complete. The entire operation is conducted with just one operator in the combine.

The intuitive system helps farmers manage their fleet efficiently by tracking their combines’ work in real-time, tractor and combine performance analytics, fuel status and run time, and real-time monitoring of all their machines’ locations.

The Magnum tractor with Raven Autonomy showcases how shared innovation meets smarter iron. This powerful solution is the result of collaboration between Case IH, a brand of CNH Industrial, and Raven Industries, a pioneer in agriculture technology. With the acquisition of Raven by CNH Industrial in November 2021, growers can expect a streamlined service model and a faster pipeline for autonomous solutions in the future.

This is a new integration between Case IH and Raven that’s been announced in 2022. At the Farm Progress Show 2022 in Boone, Iowa, USA the brands unveiled the Case IH Trident™ 5550 applicator with Raven Autonomy™, the industry’s first autonomous spreader. Both innovations highlight the significant milestone in the accelerated product development efforts between Case IH and Raven — highlighting the intense collaboration and robust product innovation following the 2021 acquisition.
