Focus on technology to improve field applications at CropTec

    • Exploring ways to increase the accuracy and consistency of fertiliser application and ease daily operations through an additional joystick are the key focusses for KUHN Farm Machinery at CropTec this year

On the stand will be KUHN’s high-output Axis H EMC 40.2 fertiliser spreader with a spread width up to 42m. Edd Fanshawe, arable product specialist at KUHN, explains that for users spreading varying types of fertiliser, the electronic mass flow control (EMC) offers precise regulation of product onto each disc.

“The EMC weighing on each disc prevents uneven fertiliser delivery to the individual discs that would create incorrect application. By measuring the flow to each disc, the EMC can detect clogging by a foreign object and, compared to traditional weigh cells, the EMC system reacts quickly to issues and corrects them, preventing any stripping.”

Users wanting a dedicated screen to run Isobus equipment can see KUHN’s CCI 800 and 1200 Isobus terminals on the stand. The latter is a 12.1in touchscreen that can display fertiliser settings, guidance maps, additional cameras, and field details all on one display. It also has the benefit of displaying two Isobus machines should it be required.

“For tractors without an Isobus compatible screen or users wanting to keep implement and tractor displays separate, these interfaces allow Isobus equipment to be operated without needing to upgrade your tractor. Both screens offer clear displays, easy access to settings, and the ability to run everything from a fertiliser spreader to a baler,” concludes Mr Fanshawe.

Further integration via a CCI A3 Isobus joystick allows users to operate 30 programmable functions from the single controller. Each function is shown in symbol format for increased ease of use and instant recognition, with a switch on the rear of the joystick to toggle between control screens.

KUHN will be in hall 2, on stand 242, when CropTec moves to its new home at Stoneleigh, Warwickshire, on 29 November.

CAPTION: The largest Isobus screen has the option to run two Isobus implements through the single terminal.
