Valtra’s new armrest and user interface SmartTouch has won the iF Design Award, one of the world’s most prestigious design awards.
This year over 6400 designs from 54 countries participated in the competition. The winners were picked by an international jury of 63 experts.
“SmartTouch has now won both the iF Design Award and the Red Dot Award last year. These awards are recognition of how important an easy-to-use and functional user interface is in terms of the overall productivity of the tractor. They are also recognition of how our long-term, focused and interdisciplinary R&D work has created a new standard for the industry. Developing a new kind of user interface for tractors together with a truly committed team has resulted in something that is easy to be proud of,” says Kimmo Wihinen, Manager, Industrial Design & User Experience at Valtra.
SmartTouch is a brand-new armrest and user interface that was designed and engineered in Finland and launched in 2017. Both the armrest and user interface are ground-breaking in terms of how easy they are to use, and their development represents the culmination of the skills of leading experts in many fields.
All the controls on the SmartTouch armrest are logically positioned and within easy reach. Close attention has been paid to ergonomics, user comfort, ease of use and clarity, and even the materials were specially selected for their intended use and to support overall functionality.
